GOVERNMENT LUNATIC ASYLUMS,

REGULATIONS FOR ATTENDANTS.
February, 1894.
1. The Chinese attendants are under the control of the Sisters and Wardmasters. The Cooks
and other Chinese attendants to be under the control of the Steward.
2. They are to be clean and neat in their person and dress.
3. They are to be quiet and orderly in their behaviour; noise and disorderly conduct will be
severely punished.

4. They are to keep their quarters clean and tidy, and are to scrub them out once a week at
5. The hours of duty are as follows :—
From 6 o'clock A.M. to 6 o'clock P.M., and from 6 o'clock P.M. to 6 o'clock A.M., day and night duty being taken on alternate weeks.
6. Wordmasters are allowed leave as follows :—
The one on Day duty--leave from 6 o'clock P.M. to 10 o'clock P.M. The one on Night duty-leave from 2 o'clock P.M. to 6 o'clock P.M.
7. The other attendants are allowed leave as follows :——
Those on Day duty-leave from 7 o'clock p.m. to 9.30 o'clock r.m.
Those on Night duty-leave from 2 o'clock P.M. to 4.30 o'clock P.M.
8. Any Officer requiring special leave of absence shall apply to the Saperintendent.
9. All lights in the Nurses' quarters are to be put out at 9.30 P.M.
10. Nurses and others found idling in their quarters during their hours of duty shall be fined.
11. Any one introducing strangers into the Asylums, without permission, shall be fined.
12. Nurses and others are expressly forbidden to supply patients with fruit, tobacco, opium, or anything not ordered for them.
13. All Asylum employés are forbidden to receive gratuities from patients or their friends.
